I do know that there is usually under the topic or category config where you have to change how long the topic stay on if inactive. It usually says something like this *Default date cut off for topic display* then has a drop down menu and you choose the time span.

I do know about that and have set it to never disappear. I am checking old topics to make sure they still exist.

I cannot find any trace of it either but the problem is without knowing when it disappeared it is hard to say when the problem occurred.
